I had a cycling *facepalm* moment a couple days ago that left me both half upset and half relieved. Don’t make the same mistake I did...here are some of the most basic bike checks to perform prior to your first pedal stroke.
Triathlon got bumped down my priority list last year, mostly because I was busy settling into the next chapter of my life: I moved from Tampa, FL back home to South Florida, got a new job, and was fortunate enough to buy my first home.
I ESCAPED. The Escape from Alcatraz triathlon in San Francisco was extremely challenging and insane, but also beautiful with its views and so much fun! The notoriety and history of Alcatraz Island have made this event a bucket list race for triathletes all over the world. This race is by far my favorite triathlon and definitely goes into the top moments of my life thus far.
6 days are what separate me from my biggest race this year and an experience of a lifetime. The swim from Alcatraz Island to land and the bike/run through the San Francisco streets will not be easy, but it's a dream race for me and something I've been looking forward to for almost one year.
Since my last semester at UF, I’ve always wanted to participate in the TriGators Super Sprint triathlon- an extremely short race consisting of a 250 yard swim, 3.4 mile bike, and 1.1 mile run that’s held on campus, but never had the chance. Finally, 3 years later, that day came.
It was a little past the middle of March in Tampa, FL. I looked at the weekly weather forecast and saw that the next two nights would have temps the high 50s. I knew this would probably be my last chance to jump in some cold water until June...so I seized the opportunity!
